The League of Women Voters of Bucks County will present two important programs for the general public in October.  Both programs will provide information to help voters understand issues pertinent to the upcoming election.

On Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 7-9:00 pm, Dr. Jack Nagel will cover voter registration and Election Day procedures and break new ground with information on a study of alternative election systems and primaries.   Dr. Nagel is Professor Emeritus of Political Science, University of Pennsylvania.  Dr. Nagel’s presentation will be held at the Pennswood Village Game Room, 1382 Newtown-Langhorne Road, Newtown, PA 18940-2401.

Immigration will be discussed on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 7-9:30pm at the BuxMont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2040 W Street Road, Warrington, PA 18976.  This program, Welcoming the Stranger: Myths, Realities, and What it Takes to Become an American, will include four panelists:  Kelli Gottemoller, Bethany Christian Services; Min S. Suh, Esquire, Partner at Obermayer, Reman & Hippel, LLP, Employment and Immigration law; an Afghanistan immigrant who was a translator for American troops in Afghanistan; and, a recent Syrian immigrant.  Panelists will present personal experiences with the immigration clearance and resettlement process, issues surrounding immigration such as national security, work permits, adapting to a new culture, who immigrates and why, and what it takes to get through the process and succeed.   The Social Justice Committee of the BuxMont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and the LWV of Bucks County are cosponsoring this program.
