In the fall of 1777, an encampment took place at the Mills during the Revolutionary War. From here, General Washington's troops marched into Philadelphia Show More...and fought the Battle of Germantown, then retreated back to their old camp. On display will be artifacts found on the property including an actual order from General Washington. Included on all tours. All ages.

Set on 170-acres of bucolic farmland, the mansion is completely furnished and houses an extensive collection of official and personal artifacts of the Pennypacker family. Operated by the County of Montgomery, the site is open year-round for guided tours, seasonal events, educational programs, changing exhibits, and special programs.

Historic Pennypacker Mills was the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker (1903-1907) and his family from 1900 to 1916. Home to eight generations Show More...of Pennypackers, the mansion is completely furnished with family heirlooms and includes many personal and official documents from his term in office. Combined, the site offers a very complete story of the Governor's accomplishments as well as what life was like in the early 20th century. Set on 170 acres of farmland, the site represents a country-gentlemen's estate.
Tours of the Pennypacker mansion offer visitors a glimpse of the lives of this well-educated Pennsylvania family, the social and cultural times they lived in, and what servant life was like here. Visitors will tour through two floors of the mansion, including the Galleries where changing exhibits highlight life in the early 20th century. Check our website for the latest exhibit. Visitors will also see the Cook's bedroom and enter the Servant's area where they'll discover what it was like to cook on a coal stove and what modern conveniences were available to both the family and their servants.
Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm; & Sunday, 1 to 4 pm

We currently have 8 alpacas at our farm with 3 of them being crias (baby alpacas) and a fourth one due by the end of September. Learn about and interact with our entertaining alpacas. Bring your camera to take as many photos as you like and ask all your questions about these cute creatures. Historic Pennypacker Mills was the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker (1903-1907) and his family from 1900 to 1916. Home to eight generations Show More...of Pennypackers, the mansion is completely furnished with family heirlooms and includes many personal and official documents from his term in office. Combined, the site offers a very complete story of the Governor's accomplishments as well as what life was like in the early 20th century. Set on 170 acres of farmland, the site represents a country-gentlemen's estate.
Tours of the Pennypacker mansion offer visitors a glimpse of the lives of this well-educated Pennsylvania family, the social and cultural times they lived in, and what servant life was like here. Visitors will tour through two floors of the mansion, including the Galleries where changing exhibits highlight life in the early 20th century. Check our website for the latest exhibit. Visitors will also see the Cook's bedroom and enter the Servant's area where they'll discover what it was like to cook on a coal stove and what modern conveniences were available to both the family and their servants.
Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm; & Sunday, 1 to 4 pm
